On our mind for February

Feb wishlistSo I have a been a little bit slow on the blog-posting front this month due to all the things that life has thrown me (including a new dog) so here is a slightly late wishlist for february. This month there is a stronger focus on essential wardrobe basics, which I can never get enough of. I have not started thinking about my wishlist for spring, so these items are items that I would love to wear and use now.

1. Delicate gold jewelry

I generally do not wear a whole lot of jewelry and often try to steer clear of gold as it can look a bit funny with my tan skin but I totally fell for these beautiful and delicate pieces designed by Lara Melchior for & other stories.

2. The perfect minimal silk camisole

Every girl should have a great black or white camisole in their wardrobe. Looks great paired with jeans, or for a more dressed up look with a black loose-fitted blazer (what I wore for valentines dinner last night). My all time favourite camisole is from Tibi but I have found a beautiful budget option with lace details from Monki (this one looks prettier in real life, I promise).

3. A new scent

I have to admit that I am one of those girls who buys one type of perfume and uses it almost every other day (Chloé by Chloé, in my case). However, I am looking to change it up this month and I am contemplating Rose Noir by Byredo. Byredo also makes beautiful leather perfume cases which I am currently pining for.

4. The perfect black shoulder bag

Although I could probably carry my black tote bag around every day I am still on the quest for the perfect black shoulder bag for evenings and those occasions when you just dont need much with you… This one from COS is my curent favourite.

5. The perfect boyfriend jeans

Since I have been wearing tight fitting black jeans/pants almost every day this winter, I am really longing for a lighter more relaxed option. The best boyfriend jeans, in my opinion are POP from Acne Studios.

6.  Versatile black ankle boots

My acne pistols have seen better days so really need to buy a new pair of black boots. I am particularly picky when it comes to this because black ankle boots are my most worn staple so they have to be both versatile and comfortable. What do you guys think of these boots?

7. Grey cashmere scarf

I am a sucker for a cashmere scarf, so much so that I have probably over-worn my black cashmere scarf this winter. Desperately need this Grey canada scarf from ACNE but they are sold out in this colour!

What is your favourite item? and which items do you think I should get?

On our mind for January

January listIf you guys are like me and are working on a limited budget this month (after christmas, new years, holiday celebrations), you are probably not looking to spend a great deal of money this month. I have therefore assembled a short list of what we have on our mind this month – practical and/or inexpensive items that will help you feel inspired, feel good, or get organised!

Baskets

I dont really know why but I have this thing for baskets. They just have the effect of making things appear more cozy and organised. I have searched long and hard for the perfect basket and this one from Hviit is my absolute favourite.

Finding the perfect organiser

It is high time that I bought an organiser to plan the exciting year that is 2014. For the last six years I have been using the black Moleskine weekly diary but this year I am thinking about changing it up. In love with this diary from Marjolein Delhaas.

DIY books

This year I will be involved with more DIY projects, particularly for the home. I am currently loving DIY books which can inspire me in this mission. Just waiting for this book by Susanna Vento & Riikka Kantinkoski, to be published in Swedish or English (it is currently only available in Finnish).

Rosehip oil

Ordinarily, my skin suffers greatly during winter time but this winter, since I have been slathering rosehip oil on my face every night before I go to bed, my skin is much more refreshed and hydrated. I can definitely recommend it! I have yet to try Kora’s rosehip oil, but I have heard great things about it.

Flea market/thrift shop finds

Unfortunately Stockholm has a shortage of flea markets at this time of  the year, but I this month you will find me scouring second-hand stores for unique finds for my apartment. I visited an amazing flea market in Copenhagen in November and picked up some amazing finds including this vintage brass magazine stand for only 50 Danish Kronor.

Running

Every year I make a resolution to get my running shoes out and get moving again. A new pair of nikes, a new running playlist, great head phones and a running buddy always helps me get motivated. Running has becoming increasingly fashionable in Stockholm the past year. Why not invest in beautiful, minimal running gear (like the perfect pair of nikes) that can fit in seamlessly into your everyday wardrobe.

Vacation shopping list

Vacation

Although the Northern Collective is somewhat transeasonal, here in Sydney you can’t help but think of post-Christmas beach vacations. Beach vacations can be the perfect reason to throw a few things in a bag and give little thought to putting together outfits, which is even easier with the perfect black bikini, (which is possibly found here). However, bikinis aside, here is an idea for a classic summer outfit that will take you from the beach well into the evening, and even maybe to work the next week!

This shirt from Weekday is great – worn as a dress (really only suitable at the beach, unless you are quite short…) or top, worn oversized or fitted, depending on your style preference. This would be perfect paired with plain flat sandals (the ones below are really reasonably priced for leather), a beach bag, and an eye-catching towel. If you need any other reasons, the top looks great tucked into a pencil skirt for work!

Bedroom Inspiration

Bedroom Inspiration

Pics from: Trendenser; collage by me.

I am so looking forward to my apartment getting renovated next year! One of the things I am truly looking forward to is finally getting white walls in the bedroom. Currently I have beige wallpaper which I am not overly fond of! But this is exactly how I want my bedroom to look like – grey and white bedding, a lamp or two, a graphic print, and a vase with some clippings of greenery from outside. I dont like having too many things in the bedroom so I try to keep it as simple as possible.Bedroom GTLAbove I have gathered a few of my favourite items which can help you achieve the look for less.

1. “g” graffic print from Playtype (from the grey collection) available at Artilleriet

2. Cage Lamp from Artilleriet

3. Linen bedding from H&M home

4. Ball vase from J-Levau Shop

What is your idea of the perfect bedroom?

xx J
