On our mind for February

Feb wishlistSo I have a been a little bit slow on the blog-posting front this month due to all the things that life has thrown me (including a new dog) so here is a slightly late wishlist for february. This month there is a stronger focus on essential wardrobe basics, which I can never get enough of. I have not started thinking about my wishlist for spring, so these items are items that I would love to wear and use now.

1. Delicate gold jewelry

I generally do not wear a whole lot of jewelry and often try to steer clear of gold as it can look a bit funny with my tan skin but I totally fell for these beautiful and delicate pieces designed by Lara Melchior for & other stories.

2. The perfect minimal silk camisole

Every girl should have a great black or white camisole in their wardrobe. Looks great paired with jeans, or for a more dressed up look with a black loose-fitted blazer (what I wore for valentines dinner last night). My all time favourite camisole is from Tibi but I have found a beautiful budget option with lace details from Monki (this one looks prettier in real life, I promise).

3. A new scent

I have to admit that I am one of those girls who buys one type of perfume and uses it almost every other day (Chloé by Chloé, in my case). However, I am looking to change it up this month and I am contemplating Rose Noir by Byredo. Byredo also makes beautiful leather perfume cases which I am currently pining for.

4. The perfect black shoulder bag

Although I could probably carry my black tote bag around every day I am still on the quest for the perfect black shoulder bag for evenings and those occasions when you just dont need much with you… This one from COS is my curent favourite.

5. The perfect boyfriend jeans

Since I have been wearing tight fitting black jeans/pants almost every day this winter, I am really longing for a lighter more relaxed option. The best boyfriend jeans, in my opinion are POP from Acne Studios.

6.  Versatile black ankle boots

My acne pistols have seen better days so really need to buy a new pair of black boots. I am particularly picky when it comes to this because black ankle boots are my most worn staple so they have to be both versatile and comfortable. What do you guys think of these boots?

7. Grey cashmere scarf

I am a sucker for a cashmere scarf, so much so that I have probably over-worn my black cashmere scarf this winter. Desperately need this Grey canada scarf from ACNE but they are sold out in this colour!

What is your favourite item? and which items do you think I should get?

Simple winter eating

DSC_1403

Since it is well and truly winter in Stockholm, here are some recipes perfect for such freezing days. Also perfect for a Monday because they require little to no preparation AND not too many pesky ingredients! Although the chickpea soup does need the chickpeas to be soaked the day before….so some foresight is needed but the soup itself takes minutes to prepare.

Recipe: Goop

Ingredients

  • 1 cup dry chickpeas
  • 6 cups of water
  • 1 large white onion, chopped
  • 3 lemons, juiced
  • salt + pepper, to taste
  • drizzle of olive oil
  • bunch of cilantro to garnish

Read the further instructions here. Plus this is a Gwyneth Paltrow recipe so is of course super healthy (vegan/detox etc)…if you need any more motivation.

Recipe: Smitten Kitchen

Deb Perelman of Smitten Kitchen is an absolute genius and if you haven’t already we suggest going to her site and spending a good few hours bookmarking some recipes! She has absolutely everything and writes instructions that are easy to follow (and also contain many hilarious anecdotes). Her carrot soup with miso and sesames is delicious and a little bit more exciting than your average soup. Plus, needs relatively few ingredients!

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 pounds (900 grams) carrots, peeled, thinly sliced
  • 1 large onion, finely chopped
  • 4 regular or 6 small garlic cloves, peeled and smashed
  • 1 tablespoon finely chopped or grated ginger, or more to taste (it could easily be doubled)
  • 4 cups vegetable broth
  • 1/4 cup white miso paste, or more to taste
  • 2 scallions (green onion/spring onion/shallot) very thinly sliced

Read the further instructions here. And finally, if soup is a little boring (or you have had way too much of it this winter) then here is the hot chocolate of all hot chocolates to try. Perfect for a relaxing Monday evening…
